  18. <p>     In a just world, a celebrated rock personality would
  19. embark on a plane and fall in love with the shy, unglamorous
  20. geriatric nurse seated next to him. But when U2 bassist ADAM
  21. CLAYTON flew from New York City to Los Angeles for the Grammy
  22. Awards last winter, his destiny took a different shape_a lanky,
  23. exotic one. His cabinmate? Supermodel NAOMI CAMPBELL, of course.
  24. As the crazy vagaries of fate would have it, Clayton had always
  25. had a mad crush on the sometime girlfriend of Robert De Niro.
  26. What luck! The beautiful Brit took warmly to the bespectacled
  27. Irishman, even though she was en route to a big date with more
  28. readily recognizable musicmaker Eric Clapton. A few months later
  29. and Campbell is sporting a dazzling antique diamond ring. She
  30. announced their engagement on the Irish talk show Kenny Live
  31. last week. No word yet on a wedding date. Isn't it comforting
  32. to know that fairy tales still happen?
